The Hui An women

Today our topic is the gender roles. I think maybe their have some difficult in doing some specific job, but all the job can be done both by men and women.
In the southeast beach of China, there is somewhere called Hui An. They aren't minority but they have very special custom.
In Hui An, most of men go out for fishing or working, only the women stay at home. So women can do all the work, even the manual work. They carrying heavy stone, building the house, fixing the fishing net and other things. If the men come back, they usually carrying the babies, cave or do some business.
The Hui An women wear very special clothers. Colorful muffle, short coat, loose-fitting trousers, silver belt. You may see the women's navel but you can't see their ear.
When they married, the women just stay at their husband's home for 3 days and then go back. At the festival, men can take their wife back home for one or two days, until they have baby then women can live with their husband.

  2. Hi dear Vicky! It’s Lucy.
Amazing photos! This women look happy..

    But I have a suggestion.

I'm not sure that you know it, but at the last study day we decided with the part of our group to go to Museum on holidays. If you have time and wish - join us. We'll be happy if you will. If you and your baby feel good. I hope you have happy and healthy pregnancy.

So, I am writing about our Australian Museum visit. Here is some necessary information.

Address: 6 College Street (opposite Hyde Park ), the nearest train stations – St. James Station, Museum Station, Town Hall (it also is not too far). Work hours – every day except 25 December from 9.30 a.m. till 5 p.m. Entrance fee (ticket price) $12. Photography and video are not permitted almost everywhere at the Museum.

You can find out more about exhibitions if check this site: http://amonline.net.au/visiting/index.cfm or http://amonline.net.au/visiting/general/address.htm

See the left side of the site page, you can find here all information for general visitors. Check the most important blocks: Address, Admission, Getting here, Museum Guide Map (I have printed it for us), What’s on calendar.

Because of the school holidays it can be a lot of people at the Museum. So, it will be better if we go out of doors a little bit earlier.

Let's meet with each other on Thursday, 23 of April, 10 a.m., at Kogarah station between the ticket offices. And go all together by train. If you prefer drive - you can find secured parking near Museum. It will be cost something - about $10-15 for 3-4 hours. If you will go by train, make sure that your mobile phone is working and has enough money to make a call if you are late. If you are late for a long time, don’t worry- go to Museum alone and meet other students there (take the address with you).

If you agree with the time and the day, please, write me. If you want offer another day and time – please, write ASAP – I’ll ask other… and write you again.
